Jagjit Singh is a legendary name and indisputably one of the most talented artistes of India and in the world today. The pioneer of modern Ghazal, he has for over four decades been conjuring up magic with his music. Jagjit Singh continues enthralling audiences with fresh albums every year, his proficiency goes beyond Ghazals, and he has established himself in the arena of film music as well, scoring memorable music for films like Prem Geet, Arth, Saath Saath among others. The multifaceted genius has also lent his mellow tones to Bhajans and has released several record breaking devotional albums such as Hey Ram, which sold over 2.5 million copies.Another illustration of his genius and mastery over soulful music can be seen in this latest album GURU MANYO GRANTH .The album was formally launched in Nanded, inside the sanctum sanctorum of Takhat Sachakhand Sri Hazur Sahib Gurudwara ,on the 7th of October by the Honorable Congress president-Smt Sonia Gandhi, along with Maharastra Chief Minister Shri Vilasrao Deshmukh, Home Minister Shri Shivraj Patil and other dignitaries from Takhat Sachkhand and Govt of India. It has 32 Shabads recited by renowned singers belonging to different faiths, cultures, and regions. The artistes who have sung in the album are Jagjit Singh, Ustad Rashid Khan, Pandit Ajay Chakrabarty, Begum Parveen Sultana, Dr Gurnaam Singh, Anup Jalota, Shankar Mahadevan, Hariharan, Suresh Wadkar, Sonu Nigam, Hansraj Hans, Roop Kumar Rathod, Kailash Kher, Shafaqat Amanat Ali,Dilraj Kaur,Sadhana Sargam, Ashwini B Deshpande, Jayshri Shivram, Richa Sharma, and Juhi Chawla. To mark the 300 years of this momentous event Gurta-Gaddi of Sri Guru Granth Sahibji, a musical album 'Guru Manyo Granth', carrying mesmerizing hymns from it and recited by eminent singers has been brought out by the Takhat Sachkhand Sri Hazur Sahib in association with Tips Industries Limited. Famous artiste ,Padmabhushan Shri Jagjit Singh has composed the entire album with the help of Dr.Gurnam Singh of Punjabi University.
