Shaheed Uddham Singh is a Punjabi Hindi bilingual film, which was theatrically released in India on 24 December 1999, just two days before the birth centenary of Udham Singh. commemorating the 70th Indian Independence Day, This film was screened on 13 August 2016 at the Independence Day Film Festival, jointly presented by the Indian Directorate of Film Festival and Ministry of Defense.
At the time of its release, it was one of the costliest Punjabi Films of its time. Produced by Iqbal Dhillon, this film was directed by Chitraarth Singh, who had returned to Punjabi Cinema after Chann Pardesi film.
Usually, patriotic films don’t have a place for music, but situational songs were used in this film under cinematic liberty. The song "Allah Kare", sung by Jaspinder Narula is still played at wedding functions. A Hindi song was also used in the film as the film was going to be bilingual. While the song "Ishq Di Baazi" and a song sung by Jazzy Bains' were about the vision and life story of Martyr Bhagat Singh and Udham Singh. A Sufi song by Durga Rangila talked about peace and truth.
Its music was done by Jagjit Singh ji & Sukhjinder Shinda.

1. The film won the National Award of Best Film on National Unity & Integration.
2. Raj Babbar won the Screen (Critics) Best Actor Award.
3. Gurdas Maan was also being considered for the titular role but he instead opted for Bhagat Singh’s role and suggested Raj Babbar’s name.
4. Mushtaq Pasha, who had directed films like Vanjaara-The Truck Driver & Vyah 70 KM was an assistant on the film.
5. Film’s English version was titled Golden Temple to Caxton Hall.
6. Sham Kaushal, the father of Vicky Kaushal, was the Action Director of Shaheed Udham Singh. It is a coincidence that his son is also associated with a film based on Udham Singh’s life.
7. Raj Babbar & Chitraarth teamed up after nearly two decades of Chann Pardesi.
8. Jazzy Bains appeared as a folk singer in Udham Singh's Qissa Song, which was sung by himself.
9. Raj Babbar lost the National Award to Malayalam Film Actor Mohan Lal.
10. Juhi Chawla’s voice was dubbed by a dubbing artist.
11. Raj Babbar took a keen interest in the film and joined in as the Associate Producer.
12. In the 70s, Parikshit Sahni was doing a biopic on Shaheed Udham Singh along with his father Balraj Sahni. But that film could not be completed. A few years later his part and scenes were used in another film Jallianwala Bagh.
13. The film was screened at the reputed Panorama International Film Festival along with films like Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam & Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar.
14. 26 December 1899 is the birth date of Udham Singh, and the film was released close to his 100th year birth anniversary.
15. In the period of 70s, another Punjabi Film Shaheed Udham Singh was released. Its Hindi version was titled Sarfarosh.
16. The film was screened in 2016 at Independence Day Film Festival by the Directorate of Film Festivals & Ministry of Defense.
17. Film producer Iqbal Dhillon issued a public notice to the makers of the upcoming Hindi Film Biopic of Udham Singh over copyright issues.
18. Scotland's Glasgow city chambers were shown as Caxton Hall, London.
